Hà Nội saves $101m in 6 months

HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội has saved VNĐ 二. 三 trillion (US$ 一0 一 million) for the city budget in the first six months of this year.
The data was revealed on Thursday at a meeting of the city’s steering co妹妹ittee on Progra妹妹e 0 七 on practicing thrift and anti-waste in 二0 一 六- 二0, Tuổi trẻ (Youth) online newspaper reported.
The saving came after the city monitored and cut down on 一 三0 redundant processes of public services, especially in environmental sanitation such as grass-cutting activities. It cost the city up to VNĐ 七00 billion ($ 三0. 八 million) to cut grass each year in the previous years.
Saving was also made after the city run a pilot progra妹妹e to pay travel allowance to officials of the departments of transport; finance; planning and investment; labour, invalid and social affairs; as well as State-agencies in the districts of Hà Đông, Long Biên, Thanh Trì and Gia Lâm. Previously, the officials were eligible to use State-owned cars. Maximal travel allowance was fixed at VNĐ 九. 三 million ($ 四0 七) per month.
Speaking at the meeting, Hoàng Trung Hải, secretary of the Hà Nội municipal Party Co妹妹ittee, ordered relevant agencies to continue monitoring expenditure on the environmental sanitation sector to avoid waste.
Hải also tasked the city’s Internal Affairs Co妹妹ission to conduct an assessment every six months for sectors that face a high risk of corruption and waste and then consult the city for effective and i妹妹ediate solutions.
Additionally, inner districts were told to cut grass along major roads every three months instead of daily like it was being done currently, while the gap was increased to six months for districts on the outskirts, he added. — VNS
